Artist's Comments

Based on one of my favorite
pieces by M. C. Escher.

Hand with Reflecting Sphere (1935) [link]

Here's a really early, rough attempt that I did last year, too, just to kind of see if I could fully realize the idea later (which is this). [link] Still not entirely satisfied with it, but I'm getting there.

Thanks to my Opi for sitting there so patiently and holding that ball without a single complaint.

Hi There!

You have just earned yourself a feature!
My features are to honor the sometimes overlooked artists of dA that I personally think deserve some exposure (and ALSO, to show off people who I think are undeniably talented in their own genre of art, REGARDLESS of their #'s of fav's or pageviews. I like what I like and sometimes artwork isn't featured in the regular DDs because it's popular all on it's own It's a shame, but the admins are only trying to be fair! ). Please click the link below to see your work featured and to view other featured artists . If you prefer not to be a featured artist, just send me a note and I will remove you from the list. Cheers!

This is great! I love the original drawing, and this is very well done. Can I ask how you managed to pull this off (assuming it wasn't photoshopped)? Is the camera in the ceiling vent or in the other room with an insanely powerful zoom lens or what? I'm just curious :)

M.C. Escher's works are so realistic that they look seamless when combined with photography - and the color enhances the effect. Very nice :)

This is a great representation of a popular Escher piece! If people don't see it for being like Escher then they'll at least stare at where the camera is for this shot. I, too, am wondering how you did this. I like this one more than your first attempt because in the first one, there are pictures on the wall behind the hand and sphere. They're sort of distracting, and here the background is one tone. Great shot!
